Clinical Forensic Psychologist
Licensed to practice in New York and for telehealth in Florida
Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine
Dr. Dubus earned her Ph.D. from the Graduate Center, CUNY, with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. She completed postdoctoral training in the assessment and treatment of trauma at the World Trade Center Mental Health Program at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Her professional experience encompasses leadership roles in mental health and criminal justice programs. Before earning her doctorate, Dr. Dubus served as the lead therapist in a New York City juvenile detention center, where she treated adolescent girls with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in a dedicated residential unit. Upon completing her postdoc, she served as the clinical director of a mental health diversion program (TASC) and a re-entry program (CRAN) in Queens, NY, working closely with the Queens Mental Health Courts and the Social Work department at Rikers Island. In these roles, Dr. Dubus evaluated and supervised individuals who were candidates for diversion programs from the criminal justice system, developing comprehensive risk management and treatment plans. Additionally, she oversaw the provision of reentry services for individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness transitioning from Rikers Island back into the community.
Dr. Dubus also directed Mount Sinai Hospital’s Partial Hospital Program, where she supervised a team of clinicians who provided intensive psychotherapeutic services to individuals with severe mental illness to reduce their hospitalization risk. She maintains her clinical and academic affiliations with the Icahn School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Hospital, where she serves as an associate professor of clinical psychiatry.
Since founding PACS, Dr. Dubus has maintained a private practice where she conducts a range of forensic evaluations. As a bicultural and bilingual clinician, she has expertise in conducting evaluations for Spanish and English-speaking individuals in the context of criminal, civil, and immigration proceedings.
Dr. Dubus also specializes in violence risk assessments, mitigation evaluations, evaluations of mental state at the time of the crime, asylum evaluations, extreme hardship evaluations, and assessment of malingering. Furthermore, Dr. Dubus has years of experience working with individuals involved with the criminal justice system, and legal and law enforcement professionals, which makes her adept at communicating mental health-related information to professionals without mental health training.
